Welcome to my North Carolina family . . .
North Carolina has provided the backdrop for the history of many Raynor and connected families who by now have spread throughout the United States. My first documented ancestor was David Rainer who may have actually been named William David Rainer. Currently knowledge exists to substantiate that David Rainer had at least two wives.
I have designed this site to preserve the history of the NC Raynors, descendants of David Rainer, his two wives and associated families and to separate us from the Northern lineage with whom we currently have found no family connection.
Information has been discovered about many other early North Carolina Rainers/Raynors who are possibly connected to David's line. Some of that information, although not currently documented as actually being connected to this line, is also being presented in these pages for interested family members.
This site is currently under construction with only a limited amount of material to view at present. Over time information that has been collected throughout the years about my Raynor and connected families who originated primarily in North Carolina will be placed on this site and the site will begin to grow. Any and all information from connected families will be welcome and your family photos will share an honored position on the site for all family members and interested parties to enjoy.
Additional connected Raynor family history can be found at Sally's Family Place by going to http://www.sallysfamilyplace.com/ and for those interested in the Canadian Raynors of Prince Edward Island go to

Donna Sherron of Johnston County, NC is a major co-contributor to this web site. Her husband is a descendant of David Rainer and his second wife Amy. Donna is herself a virtual library of family information in her own right and eagerly welcomes your family history questions. She can be contacted at Tdsherron@cs.com.
John L. Edwards, also a Raynor descendant, born in Grantham, Wayne Co, NC, now resides in Houston, Texas and has also contributed family information as well as numerous photos for use on this site. John's father, John Edwards, was brother to my grandmother Annie Edwards Raynor, children of Gaston Edwards and Civil Eliza Draughon. Civil Eliza descended from David Rainer through his daughter Piercy Rainer who wed both Green Wood and John Bright Draughon.
Please sign our guestbook. We may not yet have much information to offer but hearing from you will add so much more to this family.
YOU ...
ARE ALWAYS WELCOME ...
at our doorstep.
***To all who access this site, please enjoy all the benefits of exploring our Raynor family history but please do not utilize any of this material for commercial or financial gain or publication of any kind***
FOR THOSE OF YOU COPYING AND POSTING MY PHOTOS, ESPECIALLY SONJA EAGLES (family member or not I dont care!) YOU NEED TO DELETE THEM AND STOP POSTING WRONG INFORMATION ABOUT WHO IS IN THE PHOTOS!!!
One of the newest tools available to genealogists utilizes DNA testing. These tests can help to solve long standing problems in tracking family lines and determining areas of origin.
In order to help solve the puzzles remaining in the Rainer/Rayner/Raynor family ancestry, a DNA project has been established. The project is set up through Family Tree DNA, which is also working with the National Geographic Society and IBM on the human genographic project. Details are available at: www.familytreedna.com. For testing information, click on "Pricing", for the various tests from which to choose.
When ready to order a kit for being tested, click on "Projects", then go to the search window in the upper right corner of the screen. Enter "Rainer" and click on "project search. In the next screen, click on the Rainer name, underscored. There will be a screen for ordering a kit for testing.
If I can help with answering questions, just let me know.
